Project Description:

This project introduces the skills of identifying shape/line and creating a successful animation utilizing the Elements and Principles of Art.

Form: The goal of the project is to introduce students to the use of drawing to arrive at a strong compositional solution and a strong use of line and shape.

 

Content: The goal is to generate a set of well crafted line drawings that can be combined together to create an animated GIF. 

 

The project must utilize the following:

• Use of drawing materials.

• The beginnings of a Portfolio Website. Create a portfolio website and add the work you created for this project to your portfolio page. 

 

Elements: Line

 

Principles: Unity, Variety

 

Materials provided by Student:

• Sketchbook

• Various drawing materials

 Ideation/Visualization: 

• This assignment will require you to create components for a character that will later be used for an animation  that utilizes the Element of LINE and the Principles of UNITY and VARIETY.

• Go over the assigned “Theory” resources and use your sketchbook to do the the following things:

• 5 pages of thumbnail sketches of different ideas for "emotions." Experiment with different types of line. You must have at least two drawings per page…

• 5 pages of "stages" for your emotional line.  How will you express the Content of your animation using the Form of line?
